  Then TAFFORD shut down, and we sought an online publisher. We found one, ELECTRIC BOOKWORM—that went out of business before getting the novel online. Back to square one. Meanwhile the novel had become rare, while demand continued, so that at one point it was pirated, and at another readers were being soaked $150 or more per copy. Such a price for such a dirty book! I wanted to stop this, because I don't like having my dedicated readers ripped off by scalpers.

  Thus we came again to a new person, Daniel Reitz, who had to start his own publisher in order to do it (established publishers quickly turn conservative) and MUNDANIA PRESS came to be. That accounts for the present edition, which I went over and edited slightly for punctuation, mainly the elimination of surplus exclamation points, and I added chapter titles. We promise not to rip off readers with ludicrous prices, and we lowered the age limit a bit, as readers seem to be getting more mature earlier and societal restraints have been loosening. So now anyone age 18 or over can get it. But it remains a dirty book; there has never been any misrepresentation on that score. Do not send a gift-wrapped copy to your maiden aunt or parish priest.

  If this works out, I'll write a sequel, The Magic Fart, that picks up where Pornucopia leaves off and takes Prior Gross to new and gloriously offensive erotic and scatologic depths. I have had a few more wild notions, and will see now they work out. There's bound to be a stench.

  And no, I really doubt that Hollywood is likely to make a movie of either novel.
